KINGDOM AFROCKS プロフィール

2006年結成。セネガル、キューバ、ブラジル、ニューオリンズ等、ワールドワイドなバックボーンをもつ超個性派揃い8人のメンバーからなる東京発のアフロビートバンド。
アフロビートの始祖フェラ・クティと共にその創世記を支えた伝説のドラマー「トニー・アレン」とライブ＆アルバムでの共演を果たし名実ともに国内最強のアフロビートバンドとなり、そのアフロビートを軸にジャズ、ブラジル、ラテン、ロックなど様々な要素を取り入れた独自のスタイルの音楽を確立。
活動当初より「FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL」や「RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL」、「SUNSET LIVE」等の野外音楽フェスの他、「TOKYO JAZZ CIRCUIT」、「Gilles Peterson presents WORLDWIDE SHOWCASE」等、様々なシーンのイベントにも出演し堂々のステージングで観客を魅了した。
Giles Peterson、FRANCOIS.Kとの共演やThe RootsのQuestLove主催のOkayafricaなどの海外ミュージックシーンからのコンタクトも多く、日本で最も注目を集めた世界標準バンドの一つである。

2014年までにアルバム４枚を発表し、名実共に日本のアフロビート・シーンを牽引するバンドとして活躍するも
2014年沖縄で行われた残波JAM出演を最後に解散を発表。
約９年間の活動に幕を下ろす。
– Profile –
Formed in Tokyo,Japan in September 2006, KINGDOM AFROCKS is an Afro beat band consisting of eight unique members with extensive international experience, particularly in Senegal, Cuba, Brazil, and New Orleans,U.S.

Co-recording and performing live with the legendary drummer Tony Allen, who supported the founding era of Afro beat with Fela Kuti, made KINGDOM AFROCKS the No.1 Afro beat band, both in name and reality.
The band has established their own style of music that incorporates jazz, Brazilian, Latin and rock into Afro beat.
They have performed at various outdoor music festivals in Japan, including FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL and SUNSET LIVE, and at events such as TOKYO JAZZ CIRCUIT and Gilles Peterson presents WORLDWIDE SHOWCASE.

In recent years, the band has frequently been contacted from overseas,which lead them to perform at “Okayafrica”, hosted by QuestLove from The Roots and co-star with Giles Peterson and FRANCOIS.K, making KINGDOM AFROCKS one of the most featured world class bands in Japan.

The band released 3rd Album ‘Radioidiot’ 2013. The album includes 2 songs recorded with Legendary Afrobeat Drummer ‘Tony Allen’ and is a big hit among Japanese dance music lovers.
The band released 4 albums and become one of the hottest bands in Japan for this 10 years, but the band suddenly broke up in the end of 2014.
